Turnitin

No additional login is required. Turnitin Feedback Studio is integrated into Moodle's assignment activity. Turnitin Draft Coach is a plugin available in the Microsoft Word online program.

The Turnitin Feedback Studio plugin, integrated into KVK Moodle course assignments, is designed to detect plagiarism in students' final and coursework. The detailed similarity report can be reviewed by both the instructor and the student. Students can check the similarity of their work if the course instructor has enabled this option. Below you will find additional information and instructions in both Lithuanian and English.

Main advantages of Turnitin Feedback Studio::

  • Checks the amount of plagiarism in uploaded written work by comparing it with active and archived websites and international scientific databases (e.g., Elsevier, Springer, Emerald, Nature, EBSCO, IEEE, Wiley, ProQuest, Oxford Uni Press, etc.). It also compares with previously uploaded papers and other information sources, such as electronic books.
  • Supports popular file formats: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PDF, OpenOffice, Rich Text Format (RTF), Text, Google Docs, HTML, etc.
  • Provides a detailed text analysis – a similarity report that shows the overall percentage of similarity and the percentage of individual text segments with links to sources where the text was detected as plagiarized.
  • Translation similarity. The Turnitin system can translate papers written in 43 different languages into English and then check for similarity not only with texts in the original language but also with English sources.
  • Instructors can allow students to view the initial similarity report with feedback comments and submit a revised version of the work.
  • Similarity reports can be filtered to exclude specific sources from the plagiarism calculation: quotes, referenced literature sources, small matches, links, web archives, and individual text matches.
  • Commenting and grading tools that simplify and speed up the assessment process. Rubric cards and grading forms allow evaluating students' work according to defined criteria and scales. Instructors can share the created criteria and scales and reuse them in student assessments.
  • Turnitin allows highlighting, underlining, deleting text in students' work, writing comments on different text fragments, and recording up to 3 minutes of audio commentary for each written work.

Starting in Spring 2024, the additional Turnitin Draft Coach tool will be available, allowing you to:

  • Detect unintentional plagiarism in advance. While writing in the web version of Word, you can perform similarity checks to ensure proper paraphrasing, summarizing, and other elements of authentic work before submitting the final paper.
  • Improve citation skills. Using advanced machine learning technology, Draft Coach helps identify missing references and citations.
  • Correct grammatical errors (English only). Draft Coach highlights grammatical errors and provides detailed explanations on how to correct them.
